Point Roberts Volunteer Firefighters Fire Tactics Training

By equinox - Posted on 29 June 2009

View the Gallery - When I returned home from the mildly contentious garbage meeting with representatives of the county I had barely gotten in my door when fire trucks began making their way up my road. They whirled their sirens briefly and as I and the dogs ventured out to see what was the danger we saw a plume of smoke exiting the mobile home closest to my house. As the team began unfurling the hoses and stretching them all the way down the road to the hydrant near Gulf road, I finally gained the attention of one helmeted firefighter. "Just training" is all I needed to know to relax and enjoy the show.

Tip of the Month

H1N1 IS NOT OVER - YET

Community info: Medical experts are predicting

another wave of H1N1 in the near future. The best

prevention is a vaccination according to our Point

Roberts Health clinic and many other medical

organizations. Our clinic has vaccines available. Please call the clinic

at 945-2580 for an appointment.

 Important monthly tip:

Although our weather has been unseasonably warm this past winter and spring is very near, remember... Remain

prepared in the event of unexpected snowfall or power outage. If you

have a generator, run it monthly. Keep emergency supplies in your car

trunk until the chance of snow is well past. Remember, if you need

help during a heavy snowfall or long term power outage, please call -

PREP at 945-PREP for assistance.

Volunteer one day a month.
